Domestic violence crisis hotline expands to 24/7 service

2018-08-13

A South Australian domestic violence crisis hotline will be expanded to 24 hours, 7 days a week, providing around-the-clock support to women living in violent and abusive relationships.

The DV crisis line service provides urgent and specialist domestic violence support to thousands of women each year. Last year, the DV Crisis Line responded to 7,576 calls.

Women’s Safety Services SA provides the free and confidential statewide hotline. It was previously staffed only on weekdays, with calls outside office hours diverted to a homelessness service telephone service.

In addition to telephone counselling, trained staff can help find women safe accommodation and provide information about police, legal, housing and financial issues.

The Domestic Violence Crisis Line is 1800 800 098.
