Disability SA Bulletin 96 - Contribute to BlueBays parking app
March 2016 - Clients, carers, friends and families, and service providers - in fact, anyone at all - can contribute to the new BlueBays accessible parking app and in less than a minute.
BlueBays uses a crowd sourcing platform. This technology is essential to populating the app as it relies on users to identify parking spaces and share their knowledge. While not all accessible parks are listed yet, each week more and more are being added.
The BlueBays app provides information about the location and type of accessible car parks in both metropolitan and regional areas. Users can search for accessible parking spaces by postcode or address, and get descriptions of accessible spaces, including if they are metered.
We encourage you to tell staff and clients about this new app, so they can begin adding to and benefiting from it. Less than a minute is needed to add the details about a parking space.
The more people enter parking information, the more useful the application will be to the 70,000 permit holders in South Australia, and to thousands of others who use the app worldwide.
The tool was developed by the Department for Communities and Social Inclusion after feedback from the community that finding accessible parking spaces is often very difficult, particularly when in unfamiliar areas.
The BlueBays app is now available from the Apple App Store and Google Play.
