August 2018 - New arrangements for the After Hours Service
The After Hours Service will be transitioning to alternative arrangements from 5.00 pm on Monday 13 August 2018.
For after-hours support from 5.00 pm to 8.30 am Monday to Friday, and 24 hours on weekends and public holidays, clients and service providers can continue to phone 8372 1414.
The new provider will discuss how to best to support the caller, which may include referral to an appropriate crisis support service or relevant emergency services.
If the caller is an NDIS participant, they may be transferred to the NDIA for assistance. NDIS participants can also liaise with their individual providers for after-hours support functions.
Domiciliary Equipment Service (DES) clients who need emergency equipment repairs after 5.00 pm and on weekends, will receive the same support as current arrangements. Phone 1300 130 302.
Funded service providers are no longer required to phone the After Hours Service to obtain permission for additional funding when brokering a service after 5.00 pm. Providers are now required to notify us the next working day by emailing a completed Agency Request for Approval of After Hours Emergency Support Form to DHSDisabilitySAInfo@sa.gov.au.
The updated After Hours Emergency Support Guideline and the Support Form are available under Policies and Guidelines on the DHS website. As always, client safety is our priority. Providers will be repaid for expenditure on services deemed reasonable and necessary on submission of the form.
