Supported Independent Living

DHS Disability Services is for people who need regular support to live independently at home. We build a secure team of staff around each individual to support them in their everyday tasks and increase their capacity.

We support people in metropolitan Adelaide as well as Kadina and Mount Gambier. The service can provide support to people with complex support needs through a range of funding programs.

About DHS Disability Services

We provide tailored support to help you live the life you choose. Our goal is to help you live independently and engage with the community, all while feeling supported and empowered.

We can support you with:

  • menu planning, shopping, and cooking
  • household tasks like cleaning and laundry
  • engaging with the community
  • attending medical appointments and taking care of medications
  • personal care
  • developing skills for living independently.

Support is available 24 hours a day and can be tailored to your needs and the funding you have available.

If you would like more information about becoming a client of DHS Disability Services, let us know through an Expression of Interest.

Live where you like

We can support people in a range of accommodation, including:

  • an individual home by yourself or with housemates
  • a home in a small group of units with other clients
  • Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA)
  • high support homes
  • Northgate Aged Care.

You can live alone, or share supports with other people. We can help you to find suitable housemates who may share interests or have compatible support needs.

We are not a Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) provider.

Eligibility and costs

We support clients through a range of funding models, including the NDIS, Disability Support for Older Australians (DSOA), My Aged Care and the Lifetime Support Authority.

Our clients also use their own money to fund everyday living expenses. This is usually through their Disability Support Pension (DSP). Everyday living expenses are those costs an individual has that are not related to their support needs and therefore not funded by the NDIS or other funding programs. They include groceries, utilities, communal furniture, white goods and general household consumables.
