Nominate an exceptional female role model

Nominations are now open for the Inspiring South Australian Women’s Award 2020, which recognises the contribution women make to the community.

The award, which was established in 2011 and was formerly known as the Women Hold Up Half the Sky Award, is part of the Australia Day awards and honours.

It has been renamed to commemorate the 125th anniversary of women’s suffrage in South Australia and is jointly coordinated by the Australia Day Council of South Australia and the Office for Women.

There are two categories:

  • the Inspiring SA Women’s Award, and
  • the Emerging Leader’s Award

plus the option to include a Commendation Award.

The award gives members of the community an opportunity to nominate women who have made an impact, changed lives or left a community legacy.

Nominees can come from any field, including:

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander initiatives
  • arts and media
  • business
  • education
  • health
  • prevention of violence
  • science and medicine
  • sport and recreation.

The awards will be presented at the Australia Day Awards ceremony at Government House.

Nominations close on 1 November 2019 and information is available from the Australia Day Council website.
