2014 Disability Lifestyle Expo

The 2014 Disability Lifestyle Expo will be held today at the Adelaide Showgrounds.

Disabilities Minister Tony Piccolo said the Expo would provide information and advice to South Australians of all ages living with disability.

"The Expo is hosted by the Disability Information and Resource Centre and is an excellent opportunity for visitors to meet many of Adelaide's disability service providers," Mr Piccolo said.

"Members of the public can access quality information about disability services, products and equipment.

"The theme this year is Dream Big with exhibitors available from disability support services, aged care services, advocacy, education, employment, equipment, mobility and many more.

The Expo has been an annual event for the past 10 years, with an increasing number of exhibitors, participants and attendees and this year there will 137 stalls – the biggest event on record.

The event provides an excellent opportunity for service providers to network with each other and to promote their services.

Mr Piccolo said the Department for Communities and Social Inclusion's role at this year's event will see them providing advice and services to improve the lives of older South Australians, people living with disability and their carers.

"Equipment will also be available for demonstration and staff will be ready to offer advice on a range of services including disability services, home support for older people, carer support and specialised services for children and youth," he said.

"I encourage all South Australians with an interest in disability services and information to attend."

Department for Communities and Social Inclusion's Independent Living Centre, a custom-built wheelchair accessible caravan that provides information about independent living, will also be at the event.

The Expo has free admission and will run between 10am and 4pm.
