Engaging South Australia's LGBTIQ Community

Members of South Australia's LGBTIQ community are encouraged to make their voices heard through the 2015 LGBTIQ Rainbow Survey.

The government is eager to hear from LGBTIQ people about their priorities and concerns, particularly relating to equality and inclusion. This will help shape current and future inclusion strategies.

The survey will be available at this Sunday's Feast Festival Picnic in the Park, as well as online until 19 February 2016.

The family-friendly Feast Festival Picnic in the Park is being held at Pinky Flat, by the River Torrens, this Sunday. It features a range of activities throughout the day, including music and gourmet food vans.

It is only the second time the survey has been conducted.  Results from the 2012 Rainbow Survey were instrumental in shaping the first South Australian Strategy for the Inclusion of LGBTIQ People, which aims to address barriers for LGBTIQ people and improve access to government services.

The Feast Festival Picnic also marks the end of Social Inclusion Week Australia, a week which promotes inclusion and valuing of diversity.

Bring your Wisdom to the Table Community Round Table

The 'Bring your Wisdom to the Table' Community Roundtable, hosted by DCSI on 5 December 2015, will be another opportunity to directly engage with government decision makers about LGBTIQ issues.

The community roundtable for elders will capture community views and ideas about ageing, aged-care and the support services offered to LGBTIQ elders.

Whether you identify as LGBTIQ, or just want to support family and friends to voice their experiences, you are encouraged to participate in the roundtable.
