Premier’s volunteer award nominations now open

Volunteer organisations are encouraged to nominate a volunteer for the Premier's Certificate of Recognition for outstanding volunteer service.

Volunteers Minister Zoe Bettison said the certificates recognise people who give their time to enhance the lives of South Australians.

"Nominations can be made for an individual or a group of volunteers," Ms Bettison said.

"The certificate is an opportunity to recognise, thank and celebrate the significant contribution of South Australia's volunteers.

"Organisations and community groups can nominate volunteers who have made an outstanding achievement and contribution to volunteering."

Ms Bettison said the certificates also promote the importance of volunteering to the community.

"There are more than 900,000 people in South Australia who donate their time and energy, to help communities in need.

"I encourage organisations to nominate an individual or group of volunteers to recognise their outstanding community contributions."

The certificates will be awarded to nominations demonstrating significant contribution to the community and/or organisation, ongoing commitment and dedication to volunteering, leadership and promotion of volunteering in the community.

Successful organisations can then present the certificates to winners at their key events like National Volunteers Week, Volunteers Day or at their Annual General Meeting to recognize their volunteers selected for the award.

Applications close 5pm on Friday 27 March 2015.
