Changes to fire recovery centre hours

New operating times for the Pinery Fire Recovery Centre and mobile recovery services will come into effect from Monday next week (18 April).

The recovery centre at the Gawler TAFE, 43 High Street Gawler, will operate from 9am to 6pm Monday to Friday. It will be closed on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.

Mobile recovery centres at Hamley Bridge and Kapunda will also change their services from weekly to monthly:

  • Hamley Bridge: first Monday of every month from 1pm to 5pm at the Hamley Bridge Institute, Gilbert Street, Hamley Bridge
  • Kapunda: first Thursday of every month from 1pm to 5pm at the Light Regional Council, 93 Main Street, Kapunda.

Appointments are available after hours for community members who cannot attend a recovery centre during the open hours.

Mobile recovery services offered at Gumeracha and Kersbrook following the Sampson Flat fire are closing. However, staff at the Gawler recovery centre will remain available to provide support to these communities via phone, home visits or in person at the centre.

Recovery is a long-term process and these changes will ensure support continues to be available to people when and where they need it.

Everyone affected by the Pinery fire can visit the Gawler recovery centre or a mobile recovery service to find out more about important information, advice and support on offer, or just to meet and have a chat with the friendly staff and volunteers.

The Pinery Recovery Centre and mobile services provide people affected by the Pinery fire with access to a wide range of support including emotional support, links to health and mental health services, insurance, animal management advice, business support, and other financial assistance.

For further recovery advice and support, call the fire recovery hotline on 1800 302 787 or visit
