Come along to the Feast Festival Picnic in the Park at Pinky Flat today

Communities and Social Inclusion Minister Zoe Bettison is encouraging South Australians to support the LGBTIQ community and attend today’s Feast Festival Picnic in the Park.

The event runs from 11am through to 8pm at Pinky Flat on War Memorial Drive.

The picnic is expected to attract more than 2500 people and will include 70 stalls from community groups, food vendors, government agencies and other organisations.

The Department for Communities and Social Inclusion stall will provide information about the department’s services for LGBTIQ people and is an opportunity for government to connect with LGBTIQ people to talk about issues important to them.

The State Government is committed to including and supporting LGBTIQ people, including legislative reform to make legislation more inclusive.

The 2016 Feast Festival Picnic in the Park will be held on Sunday 6 November at Pinky Flat, corner of War Memorial Drive and Montefiore Road, from 11am to 8pm. Entry is $10.

The family friendly picnic will feature activities and live music throughout the day, as well as a great variety of food, drinks, arts and crafts for sale.

This year marks the 20th Feast Festival, celebrating pride and diversity by providing a platform for the LGBTIQ community to share its arts and culture with the community.

Feast is one of 10 major festivals in South Australia and is the third largest LGBTIQ Festival in the country.

Communities and Social Inclusion Minister Zoe Bettison said:

I encourage everyone to attend the Feast Festival Picnic in the Park today, to show support for our LGBTIQ community.

It is an opportunity to celebrate and remember the importance of equality and valuing difference.

I especially encourage LGBTIQ people to visit the DCSI stall and talk to staff about issues important to them. Your feedback will help government to better understand your needs.
