Community groups urged to apply for Volunteer Training Grants
South Australians are now invited to apply for grants under the Volunteer Training Grant Program.
Volunteers Minister Zoe Bettison said grants of up to $10,000 are available to help meet the costs of volunteer training.
"Volunteers make a tremendous contribution to communities across South Australia, and training is a very important way to support this contribution," she said.
"Eligible volunteer training can be in many different areas, such as administration, communication, marketing, counselling, cultural awareness, governance and leadership, information technology, risk management or working with vulnerable people.
"In total, up to $100,000 in Volunteer Training Grants will be available to help local communities and service organisations meet identified training needs."
South Australia proudly boasts more than 900,000 volunteers who contribute an estimated 1.7 million volunteer hours each week across the state.
"The South Australian Government is committed to expanding training opportunities for volunteers and to supporting their vital work in our communities," Ms Bettison said.
"These grants can make a real difference to volunteers and the community they serve, and I strongly encourage eligible organisations to apply."
Applications guidelines and an online application form are available now from the Office for Volunteers website at www.ofv.sa.gov.au or by calling 1300 014 712. Applications close at 5pm on Friday 18 March 2016.
