New role to help Pinery fire recovery

The Department for Communities and Social Inclusion (DCSI) today announced the appointment of a Pinery Fire Community Development Officer to work with communities and individuals impacted by the fire.

Ms Kirsty Dudley, who commenced in the position today, will be based within the Gawler TAFE building, alongside the Pinery Fire Recovery Centre.

Over the coming months Ms Dudley, in partnership with Local Recovery Coordinator, Vince Monterola, and the Local Recovery Committee, will identify community needs, develop community programs, and support the community as it works towards recovery.

Ms Dudley has experience in community development and project officer roles.  She has worked in local government, with the Mid North Regional Development Board and the Eudunda Community Business and Tourism Committee.

Recently she worked with the Eden Valley community in its recovery after fires in that region in 2014.

Ms Dudley, who attended school in Balaklava, already has strong connections with the local community and is looking forward to contributing to the recovery effort.

Local Recovery Coordinator, Vince Monterola, congratulated Ms Dudley on her appointment.

"There is an enormous amount of work to be done to support the recovery of the community, and Kirsty's passion and experience will be invaluable in helping people through this difficult time," he said.
