More powerful together - International Women’s Day 2019

South Australians are being reminded that we are ‘more powerful together’ on International Women’s Day, which will be celebrated tomorrow around the world.

International Women’s Day (IWD) is a day to recognise our achievements and consider our future milestones as we strive for true gender equality.

This year's IWD Australian theme is ‘More Powerful Together’, which is calling for everyone to stand in unity for gender equality.

So much has been achieved for women’s rights when we have been unified in the pursuit of gender equality and recognised that we are more powerful together.

When we work as one, when our aims and energy align, and when we push for the same goals as a united force, we see real changes that have a positive impact on women’s lives.

This year’s IWD is particularly important, as 2019 sees the commemoration of the 125th anniversary of women’s suffrage in South Australia – a landmark achievement for women’s rights and gender equality in our state.

More information about IWD can be found on the UN Women website.
