The National Principles for Child-Safe Organisations came into effect on 1 July 2021.
By law, all South Australian organisations and sole traders that work or volunteer with children and young people must:
- have a child-safe environments policy in place
- meet Working with Children Check obligations, and
- lodge a child-safe environments compliance statement with the Department of Human Services that meets the new National Principles.
Resources for creating child-safe environments
The Department of Human Services has a wide range of helpful resources for creating child-safe environments to support youth-serving organisations through this process and to align existing policies.
