New Housing SA Maintenance Contracts
New maintenance contracts for Housing SA maintenance and property services will commence from tomorrow, 1 October 2013.
Previously there were more than 350 contractors, providing maintenance and property services to Housing SA. This has been reduced to 14 new multi-trade contracts.
Contracts are based on geographic regions and have been awarded to five preferred contractors, for a maximum term of eight years. This is made up of an initial three years, with three and two year extension options.
Over the eight years, it is estimated that the total value of these contracts is $912 million.
The new contract arrangements will streamline maintenance and property services, providing a better service for Housing SA tenants and creating more jobs for local tradespeople.
Of the five successful contractors, three are existing South Australian companies, one a national company already operating in SA and one is a NSW company.
All of the contractors are very experienced in the delivery of maintenance services to public housing tenants.
The contractors will manage sub-contractors to deliver a coordinated and responsive maintenance program to Housing SA.
The contracts for domestic building works include maintenance, demolition, preparation for sale works, asbestos management and other general construction works.
The new contracts do not affect the way Housing SA tenants request maintenance services to their properties. Housing SA tenants will continue to contact the Maintenance Centre for any maintenance or repairs, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
