Dear sector colleagues,

This Monday 17 May, we celebrate International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT).

It is a day we stand together to support the strength and resilience of the LGBTIQA+ community, who are more likely to face discrimination in and outside of the workplace.

This is a wonderful opportunity for allies of the LGBTIQA+ community to show support, to declare “We proudly stand with you”, to speak up to reject homophobia, transphobia, interphobia, biphobia, and discriminatory behaviour wherever we see it.

I am proud to be an ally of the LGBTIQA+ community as we recognise and embrace the diversity of our colleagues, friends and family.

This Monday, I encourage you to join me in showing your support for our LGBTIQA+ people, your pride for who they are, and your commitment to inclusion.

Some simple steps you can take to celebrate this important day and help build awareness include 'go rainbow' – wear a splash of rainbow for the day or add a rainbow backdrop to your online meetings, and updating your email signature with your preferred pronouns.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to remind you that expressions of interest for the Highgate Park Working Group close this Sunday, 16 May. Further information can be found in the article below.

If you have any questions or concerns, I encourage you to contact DHS’s COVID-19 Response team at  DHSCOVIDResponse@sa.gov.au
