Tuesday 30 March 2021
Dear sector colleagues,
As you may be aware, Greater Brisbane has gone into a three-day lockdown as a result of confirmed COVID-19 cases.
Following this announcement, the South Australian Government has put a hard border in place with the following restricted zones of Queensland:
- City of Brisbane
- City of Ipswich
- Logan City
- Moreton Bay Region
- Redland City.
Arrival in South Australia
Coming into effect from 5.00 pm 29 March 2021, people are not permitted to enter South Australia from these restricted zones unless they are a returning resident, people relocating to South Australian or people fleeing domestic violence.
People returning from any restricted zone must:
- Quarantine for 14 days
- Get a COVID-19 test as soon as possible
- Get tested on day 5 and day 13 of quarantine, and
- Wear a face mask at any time you come into contact with the public for the 14-day quarantine period (for example, when seeking testing).
Arrival in South Australia between 20 March and 29 March 2021
People who arrived in South Australia from a restricted zone between 20 March and 5.00 pm 29 March 2021 must:
- Get a test as soon as possible and quarantine until you receive a negative test.
- Get tested on day 5 and day 13 after arrival. There is no requirement to quarantine after receiving a negative result in your first test, unless you have symptoms.
- Not attend a COVID Management Plan event for 14 days after your arrival.
- Not enter a high risk setting for 14 days after your arrival, unless you meet requirements to be permitted (that is, urgent medical care or end-of-life visit). Please note - high risk settings include disability and aged care or correctional facilities and an emergency department, intensive care unit, respiratory ward or oncology ward of a private or public hospital).
The latest Cross Border Travel directions, which detail the restrictions placed on entering disability, aged care and correctional facilities, can be found on the COVID-19.sa.gov.au website.
Disability and aged care organisations are urged to familiarise themselves with the new directions. If staff have recently returned from a restricted zone in Queensland, please follow the advice from SA Health.
Please continue to check the SA Health contact tracing page on a regular basis to see if you were at a COVID-19 exposure site, and take action immediately if you are impacted.
If you have any questions or concerns, I encourage you to email DHS’s COVID-19 Response team at DHSCOVIDResponse@sa.gov.au
