Disability Employment Forum 2018
Improving employment outcomes for people with disability
The Department of Human Services held an event titled 'Achieving an Inclusive Public Sector: Disability Employment Forum' on Friday 13 July 2018.

The South Australian Government is committed to improving access and inclusion for people with disability so that they can participate in and contribute more fully to the community. Employment is essential to achieving economic security so that people can plan for the future and have choice and control over their lives.
Status of disability employment
Australians with disability are much less likely to be employed and their income is around half that of people with no reported disability. Australia ranks 21st out of 29 OECD countries in the employment participation of people with disability.
South Australia's Disability Inclusion Act 2018 requires public sector agencies, including local councils, to develop Disability Access and Inclusion Plans (DAIPs); a key focus will be on improving employment outcomes for people with disability.
