Guidelines

The Premier’s Certificate of Recognition for outstanding volunteer service recognises the exceptional contribution of South Australian volunteers who deliver many critical community services in the areas of youth and community development, welfare, education, emergency services, sport and recreation, the environment and more.

Who can nominate

South Australian based volunteer-involving organisations and community groups are encouraged to nominate one or more volunteers or volunteer teams to receive this prestigious award to recognise and reward excellence and significant achievements.

Nominations close 5.00 pm, 24 March 2024
Nominations assessed by the selection panel April 2024
Applicants notified Early May 2024
National Volunteer Week 20 to 26 May 2024

Please note: The Premier’s Certificate of Recognition for outstanding volunteer service is a prestigious South Australian volunteer award. As certificates are awarded on a limited basis, nominations of more than eight  volunteers will be assessed as a team nomination and receive only one certificate on behalf of the team.

Eligibility

The Premier’s Certificate of Recognition for outstanding volunteer service is open to volunteers who have made an outstanding commitment and contribution to volunteering.

All nominators must have the permission from the individual or team they are nominating to disclose the personal information provided as a condition of their nomination in the 2024 Premier's Certificate of Recognition for outstanding volunteer service award.

For privacy purposes, the nominee (individual or team) is required to understand and be aware that, as a result of this nomination, their name may be used publicly by the Department of Human Services to promote the program and that the department may disclose personal information provided in the nomination to other parties including, but not limited to, the selection panel, the Minister for Human Services and State electoral offices.

Selection process

The Inclusion, Policy and Reform directorate within the Department of Human Services will consider all nominations for volunteers who have:

  • made significant contribution to the community and/or organisation
  • provided ongoing commitment and dedication to volunteering
  • demonstrated leadership in their volunteer role, and/or
  • promoted volunteering within the community.

Recognition of award winners

Organisations and community groups will be notified of the outcome of their nomination/s in May 2024, and certificates will be sent to applicants.

Organisations and community groups are encouraged to host a recognition event to celebrate and present the certificate/s to the nominated volunteer/s. Such occasions could include National Volunteer Week (20 -26 May 2024), Volunteers Day (10 June 2024), at an Annual General Meeting or a special morning/afternoon tea.
