$40,000 for community projects to support River Murray flood recovery

General

The 2022/23 flood has had an immense and continuing social impact, causing physical, psychological and financial distress among affected community members.

Four councils and their plans

Four councils are each receiving $10,000 to put toward a suite of recovery initiatives in impacted communities including:

  • District Council of Loxton Waikerie – for infrastructure upgrades and lawn rehabilitation to reinvigorate the Paisley Ski Beach.
  • Mid Murray Council – for local progress or hall associations to deliver small, wellbeing-focussed projects.
  • Renmark Paringa Council – to engage Mental Health Partners to deliver mental health/trauma support and education for community members.
  • Coorong District Council – for a four-part roadshow highlighting rural resilience, mental health and wellbeing.

Funding provided by the State Emergency Relief Fund

This funding is being distributed through the State Emergency Relief Fund, which plays a role in assisting communities to recover from disasters.  It builds on the $190 million relief package provided to impacted communities at the time to help them start to get back on their feet.
