The draft of the first South Australian Autism Strategy 2024–2029 is now available for South Australians to view and provide their feedback to help shape a more inclusive state.

First Australian Autism Strategy

The draft Strategy, that sets outs future inclusion policies for Autistic people in South Australia, has been led by DHS and co-designed with the Autistic and autism communities and incorporates the seven focus areas for the next 5 years:

  1. Pathways to diagnosis
  2. positive educational experiences
  3. thriving in the workplace
  4. access to supports and services
  5. participation in the community
  6. access to health and mental health services
  7. interactions with the justice system.

With over 1,200 submissions received throughout the first public consultation held in early 2023, the draft Strategy incorporates the voices and experiences of the Autistic and autism community who shared their goals and aspirations as well as the specific barriers they experience.
