Household Concessions: Apply by 31 December for Cost-of-Living relief
South Australians on low or fixed incomes are encouraged to apply for a range of household concessions by 31 December 2024 to help manage essential living costs.
Currently, over 215,000 households across the state — around a quarter of all South Australian homes — benefit from these concessions. Available support covers essential expenses, including cost-of-living, energy, water, sewerage, medical heating and cooling, and the Emergency Services Levy.
It’s estimated that thousands of eligible households have yet to apply. The deadline for the Cost of Living Concession for the 2024-25 financial year is 31 December 2024, with eligibility based on circumstances as of 1 July 2024. Applications for other household concessions are accepted year-round.

Eligible households could receive up to $1,100 annually across various concessions, including:

Additional support initiatives
- Increased Cost-of-Living Support: This year, Cost-of-Living payments are doubled for renters and self-funded retirees.
- Public Transport Concessions: Starting 1 January 2025, all Centrelink Health Care Card holders can access public transport concessions.
- Sports Voucher Boost: From 2025, families can receive two $100 Sports Vouchers annually to help children participate in extracurricular activities.
- School Subsidy Increase: Also in 2025, the materials and services charge subsidy will double to $200 per child attending government schools.
