Homelessness Week 2025

General

Every day, hundreds of dedicated workers support people across South Australia experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness. They help people connect with essential services and take steps toward safe, stable housing.

This work is central to the state’s homelessness response, which is made possible through strong collaboration between government-funded services, non-government organisations, and community partners.

Homelessness Week is a time to reflect on the experience of homelessness for people and families, as well as to acknowledge all the workers, volunteers and community members for their dedication and collaboration to take action to address homelessness.

How you can help

This Homelessness Week (4 to 10 August 2025), we encourage you to:

  • learn more about homelessness in your community
  • support local organisations
  • reach out when you see someone who may need help.

If you are concerned about someone living without a home, or at risk, you can help connect them to support services such as :

Homeless Connect SA

Homeless Connect SA is a free-to-call statewide service that can take a look at someone’s situation, provide them with free advice and refer them to local homelessness services.

Street Connect helps people in the CBD and North Adelaide

If you are worried about someone you see someone sleeping rough in the Adelaide CBD, North Adelaide or surrounding parklands, you can contact Street Connect to let support workers know. An outreach worker will visit the person and offer help and support.

Emergency Weather Response

You can look on the DHS website to find out about extreme weather responses to support people who are rough sleeping. You can subscribe to receive Emergency Weather Code Blue or Code Red alerts too.

When a Code Red, Code Blue or Severe Weather code is activated, additional services for people sleeping rough are triggered—such as extended opening hours, extra shelter, and outreach support—based on local need and weather severity.

Our commitment

We're working toward a future where homelessness is prevented or resolved by linking people to prompt support, essential services, and helping them to find a place to call home.
