Safer Family Services team achieves Rainbow Tick Accreditation!

General

DHS’ Safer Family Services (SFS) team has achieved Rainbow Tick Accreditation, recognising its commitment to delivering inclusive, safe and high-quality services for LGBTIQA+ communities.

A first for the SA public sector

Rainbow Tick is the gold standard for LGBTIQA+ inclusion in health and human services. SFS is the first government service in South Australia — and one of the first in Australia — to achieve Rainbow Tick accreditation. This important milestone reflects the sustained efforts by the SFS team to ensure its services are welcoming, inclusive and responsive to the needs of LGBTIQA+ clients, while also fostering a supportive workplace for staff.

A collaborative process

The achievement was made possible through strong collaboration across the department. The Social Inclusion Policy and Partnerships team led the accreditation process, working closely with SFS and other areas to embed inclusive practices and prepare the submission. Importantly, the SFS Quality and Practice Development team has driven continuous improvement beyond the accreditation requirements, which contributed to the successful outcome.

SFS will continue to build on this work, including through the upcoming release of an LGBTIQA+ Inclusive Practice Guide to support inclusion more broadly across the department.
