The grants continue the legacy of philanthropist Julia Farr, who founded the Home for Incurables* in Fullarton in 1879 to address gaps in care for people with disability and chronic illness. Over time, the site became known as the Julia Farr Centre and later Highgate Park.
Following the sale of the site in 2024, funds were placed in the Home for the Incurables (HFI) Trust*. Guidance from a working group facilitated by JFA Purple Orange ensures these funds are reinvested to benefit people with disability.
By reinvesting these funds into disability inclusion initiatives, the grants deliver lasting impact for South Australians with disability, now and into the future.
