Our grants give eligible community organisations funding for projects that help South Australians build skills and reduce disadvantage and exclusion.
Upcoming and available DHS grants can be viewed online and are advertised on the DHS facebook and DHS LinkedIn channels.
Applying for a grant
Each grant has a set of guidelines detailing eligibility to apply and the funding focus to help organisations write their grant application. As grant rounds can have a different funding focus, it is recommended to carefully read the guidelines of the grant you are applying for.
Grants applications are submitted online through the SmartyGrants platform.
Receiving a grant
If your application is successful, we will send you a grant agreement. This explains what you will receive and what you need to do.
The agreement will include:
- what we (the Department of Human Services) will provide
- what you must do in return
You will usually need to agree to:
- provide reports on your project
- have public liability insurance (usually at least $1 million, or as stated in your agreement)
- let us know about any changes to how you plan to use the grant
- acknowledge the Government of South Australia as the funder when promoting your project
Your agreement will also explain how and when you will receive the grant money.
Reporting on a grant
When your project is finished, you must complete an online report. This shows you have used the grant money as agreed.
Keep all receipts and include them with your report.
After you receive your grant, we will email the contact on your SmartyGrants account with a link to your report.
Reports are due one month after your agreement end date.
How to report
- Log in to your SmartyGrants account
- Complete the report and spending details
- Upload your receipts
- Print the form and have it signed by two authorised people in your organisation
- Scan and upload the signed form
- Submit the report with all attachments
