The Young Carer Support Service helps young carers aged 5 to 25.
You can get support in ways that work for you — this includes one-on-one help, joining group activities, or connecting with others in support groups. Our program partners can help you build friendships, feel more confident at school and get more involved in your community.
This is a free service. Support is generally available for up to 12 months, and if you need more time, we can look at extending it.

Young Carer Support Service Evaluation
DHS reviewed the Young Carer Support Service in 2026 to see how it was helping young carers in South Australia and to find ways to make it better. We found that the service helped young carers improve their wellbeing, confidence, social connections and access to support. We also found ways to improve referrals, raise awareness of the service and make it easier for all young carers to access support. Overall, the service has a positive impact on young carers’ lives.
