Applications open for Minister’s Advisory Councils

General Youth Disability

South Australians with disability, young people, and members of the LGBTIQA+ community are invited to apply for the Disability, Youth, and LGBTIQA+ Minister’s Advisory Councils (MACs).

Share your experience and insights

MAC members play an important role by sharing their experiences and insights directly with the State Government to inform real solutions.

Councils meet four times a year with the Minister for Human Services, the Hon. Nat Cook, to provide strategic advice and help shape government policy, strategy and legislation.

A rewarding opportunity

Participants are compensated for their time, and membership offers valuable networking opportunities, professional and personal development, and direct access to decision-makers.

Seeking a diverse range of views

The government is particularly encouraging applications from young people with disability, Aboriginal LGBTIQA+ people, and those from culturally diverse backgrounds. Aboriginal people are strongly encouraged to apply to ensure their perspectives are represented in these important discussions.

Are you eligible?

  • The Disability MAC is open to South Australians aged 15 and over with disability or lived experience.
  • The Youth MAC is open to South Australians aged 15 to 25.
  • The LGBTIQA+ MAC is open to South Australians aged 15 and over.

A direct voice to government

The three Minister’s Advisory Councils were established in 2022 as part of the State Government’s commitment to giving these communities a direct voice to government on issues that matter most to them.
