SA Youth Week is coming soon

Save the date, SA Youth Week (SAYW) is coming up from 9 to 17 April!
Nine days of events and activities
Coordinated by the Department of Human Services, SAYW is the state’s biggest celebration of young people, featuring nine days of events and activities, including arts, culture, sports and community-building initiatives.
SA Youth Week offers a platform for young people to showcase their ideas, talents, and contributions to the community, with free or low-cost events organised for and by young people.
SAYW grant recipients: a bigger budget for a bigger impact!
This year, a youth disability network, a multicultural youth organisation and a host of regional councils are among 29 recipients to be awarded a total of $70,000 in grant funding, up from $50,000 in 2024, to host events during SAYW.
The latest funding round saw an unprecedented number of applications from across the state, underscoring the growing interest in celebrating and empowering young people. Some of the exciting events coming up include:
- Wardli Youth Block Party, Christie Downs. Music, art, dance, food, youth markets and much more. By young people for young people. (City of Onkaparinga)
- Celebrating Diversity and Building Community, Thebarton. Fun and interactive activities, workshops, and cultural performances aimed at bridging gaps between newly arrived young people and the broader community. (Multicultural Youth SA - Youth Connect)
- Youth Yarnin’, Port Augusta. A four-hour event dedicated to empowering Aboriginal youth through cultural pride, leadership training and media skills development. (Umeewarra Aboriginal Media Association)
- Ctrl+Create: The Youth Culture Series. Three youth culture celebrations across Victor Harbor, Mount Compass and Goolwa. Graffiti workshops, video games, escape rooms, introduction into theatre and portrait photography. (Alexandrina Council)
- Sprout cooking class for young people with disability, Hilton. (Enabled Youth Disability Network)

SA Youth Week to kick off with a free public launch event for young people 12 to 25
For the first time this year, DHS will host a free public event for young people aged 12 to 25 to kick off SA Youth Week, which will be officially launched by Minister Nat Cook.
Wednesday 9 April 2025
4.00 pm to 6.00 pm
City Skate, West Terrace, Adelaide
This FREE, accessible and inclusive event will feature live music from Destinezia and Rob Edwards, interactive workshops and a chillout sensory space.
