Northern families celebrate 10 years of Man with a Pram
Local Father's laced up their sneakers for the annual Man with a Pram walk on Father's Day weekend. This year marked the 10th anniversary for the annual event which shines a light on perinatal mental health.
Between our two events hosted in Gawler and Salisbury, 300 walkers braved the wind and rain to promote the mental health benefits of exercise and social connection.
Why dads need support
Around one in 10 new dads experience perinatal anxiety and depression every year*, and the Man with a Pram event enables dads to make those much-needed connections with other dads who experience similar challenges.
Family fun
Following the walk, families enjoyed a BBQ and lots of family fun activities including face painting and the Salisbury event hosted a ‘daddy dinosaur race’.

One of the Safer Family Services Community Development Coordinators (CDCs) involved with organising the events said – "It was a fantastic weekend. Yes, it was wet, but both events had such a vibe and it's such a privilege to be part of this village that supports parents of young children."
Well done to our CDCs in the north for running two amazing events for dads and their families.

How to find our community programs and services
The majority of Safer Family Services Community Development Coordinators are based in Department for Education Children’s Centres as a key partner to facilitate integrated services responsive to children, family and community needs. These services and programs are offered with a strong focus on partnerships with the local community and other agencies.
Each centre provides different services that help children build strong relationships with adults and support their safety, learning, health, development and wellbeing.
