Get involved in the Week of Ageing Well this October
Celebrate living and ageing well this October during SA's annual Week of Ageing Well!
This year's theme encourages Building Age-Friendly, Connected Communities, with a call to action for everyone to build connection every day. Amidst reports that 1 in 6 people worldwide experience loneliness or social isolation, it is a timely reminder of the importance of connecting with each other in small, everyday ways.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) Commission on Social Connection released its global report in June 2025, revealing that stronger social connections can improve wellbeing, reduce preventable deaths, boost economic resilience and build healthier communities. We now know that everyday actions can go a long way to building inclusion and supporting all of us to enjoy a good quality of life as we age.
Small actions can have a big impact. It doesn't take much to help someone feel visible and valued. Say hello, check in with a friend or invite someone new along to a regular activity. You can help people of all ages feel like they belong.
Play your part in building stronger connections this Week of Ageing Well, 1 to 7 October 2026.
