The Premier’s Certificate of Recognition for Outstanding Volunteer Service celebrates the exceptional contribution of South Australian volunteers who give selflessly to their communities. It is designed to recognise and reward those volunteers who have consistently gone above and beyond and made a significant contribution to their organisation and community.
Who can nominate
All South Australian based volunteer-involving organisations and community groups are able to nominate one or more of their volunteers or volunteer teams to receive a certificate of recognition.
Please note that team nominations will receive one certificate displaying the Team Name, not individual certificates for each team member.
Nominations can be submitted through an online form, from Monday 1 September to 11.59 pm on Friday 31 October 2025.
Eligibility
The nominating organisation will need to provide a supporting statement (maximum 1500 characters/300 words) which describes why the nominee deserves to be recognised and what qualities they have that sets them apart from other volunteers.
The nominating organisation must provide the following mandatory details:
- Name, position title and contact details of the nominator.
- The nominating organisation’s postal address to which certificates will be sent.
- If nominating an individual, the individual volunteer’s full name and residential suburb (for verification purposes).
- If nominating a team of volunteers, the team name you wish to be printed on the certificate.
The volunteer name, team title and organisational names will be printed exactly as entered on the form so please ensure all spelling is correct before submitting. We are unable to reprint certificates once issued.
Verification and distribution of certificates
The Department of Human Services (DHS) will assess and verify all nominations to ensure:
- all required details have been provided
- the nomination meets the eligibility criteria
- the nominating body and nominees are genuine.
DHS may need to contact the nominating person to verify organisational and nominee eligibility.
Certificates will be sent to the nominating organisation via Australia Post during the month of November in time for International Volunteers Day, which is celebrated on 5 December each year.
Organisations and community groups are encouraged to host a recognition event to celebrate and present the certificates to their nominated volunteers.
