In Harmony as One

General

To celebrate International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples (9 August), DHS held a special morning tea to unveil a captivating artwork at the Riverside Centre.

Titled "In Harmony as One", the artwork is the collaborative creation of  DHS Disability Services staff member Michelle McAdam, a proud Arrernte-Kija woman, and her daughter Kera Watts, a proud Arrernte-Kija-Marra-Alawa woman.

“In Harmony as One” signifies the coming together of people from different cultures and the contributions made in our community by people living with disability. The painting holds special significance for DHS, as 11 First Nations clients that Ms Adam supports are represented in the artwork. It was a special celebration when many of them joined Michelle and other DHS staff at the morning tea.

The painting now proudly hangs in the Stephen Goldsmith Education Centre within the Riverside building, where many DHS staff will be able to view the piece and reflect on its meaningful story.
