Office for Women launches Raiise to promote respect towards women in sport clubs

General

The new program will be offered to over 50 sport clubs across the state to educate on respectful relationships in sport and challenge gender stereotypes.

Today the Office for Women has launched Raiise, an educational program that promotes gender equality and respectful behaviour in sport to ultimately contribute to the reduction of violence against women girls.

In an event hosted by the Adelaide United at the Coopers Stadium, an initial workshop has been first presented to the women’s and men’s teams before it is rolled out to over 50 sports clubs across the state including three regional areas.

The pioneering program is part of the South Australian Government’s FIFA Women's World Cup legacy project and aims to ensure that current and future generations of female athletes receive equal support and respect than their male counterparts and enjoy playing, coaching or administering sport.

This initiative is an opportunity for sport clubs to be an example of inclusion and respect to role model future generations and attract more women and girls to participate in sports.
