Have your say - apply today to join a Ministerial Advisory Council
2022-05-25

South Australians are invited to have their say and help steer government policy by joining one of three new Advisory Councils to the Minister for Human Services.
Expressions of interest are now open for membership of the:
- Disability Advisory Council - thought leaders and advocates with lived experience of disability (applications close 19 June)
- LGBTIQA + Advisory Council - Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer, Asexual and other sexually, gender and bodily diverse people (applications close 19 June)
- Youth Advisory Council - young people from the ages of 12 to 24 (applications close 12 June)
Each of the three new councils will report directly to the Minister for Human Services, providing strategic advice and ensuring there is a strong voice for people with lived experience to shape government strategy, policies and legislation.
Applications are strongly encouraged from South Australians with diverse backgrounds, including regional residents, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and people of all ages.
The Disability Advisory Council is the third new Minister’s Advisory Council to open in recent weeks, along with the Youth Advisory Council and LGBTIQA+ Advisory Council.
One in five South Australians has a disability – that is nearly 330,000 people statewide.
The Minister for Human Services has lead responsibility for disability matters within State Government, working closely with her counterparts within State Cabinet and advocating for South Australians at a national level.
Thought leaders and advocates with lived experience from a wide range of backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply for membership of the Council.
