Ministerial Roundtable explored options for improving hospital discharge outcomes for NDIS participants

On 25 July 2022, the Hon Nat Cook MP, Minister for Human Services and the Hon Chris Picton MP, Minister for Health and Wellbeing held a joint Hospital Discharge Roundtable.

The Roundtable brought together leaders, service delivery experts, knowledge holders and advocates to discuss options to address the issue of the unacceptable number of National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) participants in hospital who are discharge-ready but are awaiting disability supports or appropriate accommodation.

The Roundtable, independently facilitated by Adelaide consultancy, ThinkHuman, explored key issues and opportunities to prevent hospital admissions, improve NDIS assessment processes and delays, and support NDIS participants to access appropriate accommodation and supports.

ThinkHuman have prepared a report documenting the outcomes from the Roundtable, which are being used to inform both state and national work to ensure people with disability receive the supports they need in an appropriate setting.
