Dear sector colleague,

This week we acknowledge and recognise some significant events in the calendar including National Child Protection Week and R U OK? Day.

National Child Protection Week (5-11 September 2021) is held annually to raise awareness of child abuse prevention and child protection. The week raises the profile of all issues connected with child protection with this year’s theme being “every child, in every community, needs a fair go.” DHS's Early Intervention Research Directorate (EIRD) plays a pivotal role in child abuse prevention and child protection which you can learn more about in one of our featured articles this week.

The Department for Child Protection acknowledged National Child Protection Week with an event held yesterday to announce the winners of the SA Child Protection Awards.

If you have any questions or concerns, I encourage you to contact DHS’s COVID-19 Response team at
