Dear sector colleague,

Following cases of COVID-19 in Western Australia late last week, restricted zones were declared in Western Australia in the Perth and Peel Regions and restrictions were put in place relating to travel from these areas into South Australia.

I am pleased to advise that as at 4.50pm 27 April 2021, entry from these restricted zones (Perth and Peel Regions) of Western Australia is permitted.

Whilst travel restrictions have been lifted, anyone who has been in the Perth or Peel Regions on or after 17 April 2021 must:

  • get tested as soon as possible and quarantine until they receive a negative test result.
  • get tested on day 5 and day 13 after arrival. There is no requirement to quarantine after receiving a negative result in the first test, unless symptomatic.
  • not attend a COVID Management Plan event for 14 days after arrival.
  • not enter a high-risk setting for 14 days after arrival, unless they meet requirements to be permitted (that is, urgent medical care or end-of-life visit). High risk settings include:
    • disability care
    • aged care
    • correctional facilities
    • emergency departments in private or public hospitals
    • intensive care units in private or public hospitals
    • respiratory wards in private or public hospitals
    • oncology wards in private or public hospitals.

Contract tracing information from SA Health

Anyone currently in quarantine from a restricted zone will be able to leave quarantine after receiving a negative COVID-19 test result in the first test, unless they have been otherwise directed by SA Health.
