Dear sector colleagues,
COVID-19 vaccine rollout to the disability sector
Yesterday, SA Health announced that all disability care workers will have access to the Pfizer vaccination through state vaccination clinics.
If you would like more information and details about how staff can book their vaccination, please see the article in the link.
In addition, ASPEN Medical, who has been contracted by the Australian Government to deliver the COVID-19 vaccine to disability residential facilities, has commenced the rollout to the disability sector in South Australia. They will only be using the Pfizer vaccine.
This week ASPEN is establishing hubs that will serve as vaccination options, and also has multiple vaccination teams capable of conducting out-reach in home or day clinics as required. The following options are currently available:
- Vaccination Hub at 17 Main North Road Medindie. This hub currently has 112 appointments available daily Monday to Friday. ASPEN will contact providers to organise a pathway for bookings based on best fit solutions for clients and staff.
- A "Provider" vaccination day clinic at Minda's North Brighton clinic that will be capable of up to 112 vaccination appointments daily Monday to Friday. This will open from Thursday 10 June 2021. Similar clinics will be discussed with providers to determine the best approach for provider sites.
- 3 outreach vaccination teams capable of visiting up to 4 sites a day (varies subject to complexity, size and geography of each site).
ASPEN is now actively contacting providers to identify the best solution to vaccinate clients and staff. Once this has been identified, ASPEN will direct clients and staff to the hub or schedule in-reach or a day clinic as appropriate.
Providers are asked to provide a reliable point of contact who will be able to work with ASPEN on the best fit solutions for clients and staff. If you are an eligible residential disability provider, please provide contact information to Health.DHWCOVID19VACCTEAM@sa.gov.au.
Please note, the current opportunities are for vaccination within the Adelaide region. ASPEN will commence identifying clinic opportunities for regional SA vaccinations shortly. A more detailed plan will be provided as soon as it is available.
