Outcome Area 5: Education and Learning

The rights of people with disability are promoted, upheld and protected, and people with disability feel safe and enjoy equality before the law.

5.1 State authorities to facilitate meaningful volunteering opportunities for people with disability and identify clear pathways to enable the transition from volunteering to work placement.

Key deliverables and milestones

  • Volunteer role descriptions are flexible and adaptable to support people with disability.
  • Engage with the Australian Government Department of Social Services to evaluate the Volunteer Management Activity Model and develop a Performance Management Framework.

Outcome measures

  • Departmental volunteer policy and procedure includes guidance on reasonable adjustments and modifications for people with disability.
  • Increase in number of volunteers who successfully transition from volunteering to work placement.
  • Participation in Commonwealth-led volunteering activity ensuring South Australia’s needs and interests are represented.

5.2 Explore internal reporting mechanisms to identify funded programs that support the delivery of Inclusive SA.

5.3 Consider implementation of an Inclusive SA and DAIPs funding round which importantly includes the priority groups.

5.4 Increase community knowledge and engage with the sector to increase understanding of Grants SA funding and application processes.

5.5 When reviewing the Grant SA guidelines, strengthen the disability access and inclusion focus in line with Inclusive SA.

  • Grant SA guidelines include enabling access to programs and upgrades to community spaces to encourage participation especially in regional and remote areas.
