Department of Human Services

Volunteers Day and Thank You event

Volunteers Day

To recognise the significant contribution made by volunteers across the state, the Government of South Australia has proclaimed a special day in their honour. Volunteers Day is celebrated on the Monday of the Queen's Birthday long weekend in June every year.

Volunteers Thank You event

The Department of Human Services hosts an annual thank you event for volunteers on Volunteers Day, to recognise and celebrate the many and varied ways that South Australia's 900,000+ volunteers dedicate their time to helping others and giving back to our community.

This year's annual SA Volunteers Day Thank You event, to be held at the Adelaide Festival Centre, is being postponed due to current restrictions on public gatherings during the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, today more than ever, it is important that we recognise the importance of the role our volunteers play in the community. Therefore, this year the Department of Human Services will celebrate our volunteers online with the South Australian Volunteers Day Thank You Message and Awards Presentation 2020 on Monday 8 June 2020.

Information and details for the virtual 2020 Volunteers Thank You event will be available soon.
