Applications are now open for a total of $250,000 in grants to help young people build essential life skills and transition to adulthood.
The Youth Action Plan (YAP) Life Skills Grants offer up to $15,000 to local councils, Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisations, not-for-profits and social enterprises working with young people in metropolitan and regional South Australia.
The funding will help create or expand programs that teach essential life skills, including:
- Navigating government services (e.g., applying for birth certificates, Medicare cards, and Tax File Numbers)
- Resume building, job applications, and interview preparation
- Healthy lifestyle choices, nutrition, and the impact of diet
- Financial literacy, budgeting, and debt management
- Practical skills such as car maintenance, meal prep, and basic home upkeep
- Learner's license driving programs for young people from priority groups.

An online information session for this grant will be held at 12:30 pm to 2 pm on Tuesday 29 April 2025.

Key dates
- The round is open between 9 April 2025 at 9:00 am and 4 June 2025 at 3.00 pm.
- Notification of the grant outcome will be made mid to late August 2025.
- The grant agreement period will start after 1 September 2025 and end 30 June 2027.
