Recognising volunteers is vital for keeping them engaged, motivated, and active in their communities. It also helps to inspire others to join the volunteer movement in South Australia. In 2025, the volunteer certificate program has been updated to make the process simpler and more streamlined.
The Premier's Certificate of Recognition for Outstanding Volunteer Service
The Premier’s Certificate of Recognition for Outstanding Volunteer Service is designed to help volunteer-involving organisations and community groups acknowledge and celebrate volunteers who have demonstrated outstanding commitment and made a significant contribution to their organisation or community.
Application dates
Requests for the Premier’s Certificate of Recognition for Outstanding Volunteer Service are open from 1 September to 31 October each year.
How to apply
During the application period a request form with the certificate guidelines will be available on this page.
Certificate delivery
Certificates will be printed and sent to applicants in time for International Volunteers Day on 5 December.
Celebrate your volunteers
We encourage organisations and community groups to host a recognition event in December to present the certificate(s) and honour their volunteer(s). This is a great opportunity to publicly celebrate their contributions.
Other ways to recognise your volunteers
Please note that requests for the Premier’s Certificate of Recognition for Outstanding Volunteer Service are different from nominations for the South Australian Volunteer Awards . Organisations can both submit a request for the Premier’s Certificate and nominate a volunteer for the South Australian Volunteer Awards during the respective open dates.
