The Department of Human Services provides strategic support to the volunteer sector, including by coordinating the Volunteering Strategy for South Australia 2021–2027.
Building on the success of the previous Volunteering Strategy for South Australia 2014–2020, the new strategy, updated in 2024, outlines key priorities to enhance the volunteer experience. It aims to encourage greater participation and meet the evolving needs of our communities.
The strategy’s key focus areas of ‘Include and Support, Promote and Grow, and Collaborate and Improve’ also align with the National Strategy for Volunteering, released in February 2023. This makes it easier to map and monitor South Australia’s actions against national standards, and helps to create a consistent volunteering experience for all.
This strategy was developed in collaboration with partners Volunteering SA&NT, the South Australian Business Chamber (formerly Business SA), and the Local Government Association of South Australia.
