Energy retailers
This information is for energy retailers who hold an energy retail licence pursuant to the Electricity Act 1996 (SA).
The Minister for Human Services funds, operates and administers the energy concession on behalf of the Minister for Energy and Mining.
To provide concessions, an energy retailer must enter into a Concession Scheme Administrative Arrangements Deed with the Minister for Human Services.
The energy concession helps eligible South Australians on low or fixed incomes with the cost of electricity bills for their principal place of residence. The concession is calculated as a flat rate per day and is indexed each financial year.
For approved customers who receive an electricity bill in their name, the concession appears as a credit on each bill. People who pay for energy another way may receive concession payments directly into their bank account.
