SA Youth Week

SA Youth Week

SA Youth Week (SAYW) 2020 is scheduled to run from 17 – 26 April. As the situation surrounding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in Australia continues to change rapidly, many of the events and activities will not be able to go ahead as originally planned.

SAYW 2020 is not cancelled outright. Instead, organisations and SAYW grant recipients are encouraged to consider alternative means to foster connection and support for young South Australians during this time. For example, by hosting online chats or streaming content that promotes wellbeing and connection. However, all plans must adhere to the latest health authorities’ guidelines including those from SA Health and the Australian Government.

SAYW 2020 grant recipients and/or organisations that had planned to hold an event are advised to read the updated guidelines. SAYW grant recipients should contact DHS regarding the status of their initial project and viability of alternative proposals.

A SAYW 2020 state-wide arts competition and metropolitan launch event was planned to be hosted by the Youth Affairs Council of South Australia. Unfortunately, this event will not go ahead in light of the current restrictions around social gatherings. DHS is working with YACSA to consider alternatives to support young people and the youth sector at this time.

To speak to DHS about a current SAYW 2020 grant, contact Grants SA on grantssa@sa.gov.au or 1300 650 985. For general enquires about SAYW 2020, contact the DHS Youth Team on 08 8413 8178.
