Event description :
Ruby's Mount Gambier is celebrating Youth Homelessness Matters Day 2026!
Youth Homelessness Matters Day is a national celebration of young people’s resilience and an important day of advocacy for sustainable and innovative solutions to support the needs of children and young people at risk of or experiencing homelessness.
What does ‘home’ mean to you?
We have called out to our local young people to create a piece of art that raises awareness of youth homelessness and shares hope, resilience, or ideas for change, because everyone deserves a safe space to call home.
The Riddoch Arts & Cultural Centre will sharing a digital art show of these pieces on the upper-level balcony, for three weeks from April 15th.
Youth homelessness often goes unseen, with many young people couch surfing or staying in unsafe situations rather than sleeping rough. Those aged 12–24 account for 23% of all people experiencing homelessness in Australia—that’s 28,204 young people at the most recent census.
Join us to experience the artwork and stand behind the call for meaningful change!
